The logical thing to do after my last post would be to continue my series on bees. Yep, that would be the logical thing to do but I laugh in the face of logic (hahaha!) so, I am going to go completely off topic and make you sweat it out a bit while you wait for the rest of my bee posts! Enjoy!
Having a healthy home starts with keeping yourself healthy- start there and the rest will surely follow. Maybe the easiest, and most important step we can take is to swap those nasty, sugary drinks with water. We hear it again and again; drinking water is not just good for you, it’s GREAT for you. Doctors, nutritionists and health guru’s all agree that getting your daily dose of H20 can have some amazing health benefits. Two-thirds of our body is made up of water, so drinking those eight glasses each day is essential to our health. It hydrates, curbs hunger and keeps our systems running properly but what else can downing water do for us?
Drinking water makes us less tired and more alert!
Dehydration is one of the leading causes of fatigue and headaches. One recent Tufts University study found that a loss of just 1 to 2 percent of body weight as water is enough to impair thinking. So be smart and drink up!
It can help you lose weight!
Drinking water can suppress your appetite, making you hungry less often. It also helps to remove the by-products from fat. Plus, it’s calorie-free!
Keeps your mouth, throat and lips from feeling dry.
Often, dry mouth is responsible for unpleasant taste, bad breath and even cavities! Reduce the need to use harsh, chemical-rich mouthwashes by drinking the recommended daily amount of water.
Extend and improve your workouts!
Sweating causes muscles to lose water and get tired. Muscles need water for strength and flexibility and joints need it to reduce stiffness! For your best workout performance drink water before, after and during exercise.
BONUS: Adding lemon to your water is an easy (and delicious) way to increase electrolytes and vitamin C into your diet. This boosts your immune system and helps keep skin wrinkle-free and even-toned. It’s a no-brainer!
See? Removing the sugary drinks from your diet and adding water instead really isn’t so bad, right? There are so many benefits and you won’t be adding those disgusting chemicals to your body, worrying about the soda bottles ruining the earth and you’d finally get to (truthfully) say “Yes!” when your doctor asks if you’ve been drinking enough water! What’s not to love?! So, let’s all pledge, if not the full eight glasses, to add a little more water to our daily diet. Let’s try a little harder to be a little healthier- baby steps, right? Let’s make ourselves a bit healthier and our homes will follow!
